【1】金・ルビー・銀・銅祝の式典・祝賀会を再延期
Gold, Ruby, Silver, and Bronze Anniversary Ceremonies Rescheduled

新型コロナウイルスにより、昨年度（2020年度）に続き今年（2021年度）の祝典・祝賀会もそれぞれ9月、11月に延期しての開催を予定していましたが、コロナ禍の影響長期化によりそれぞれ再度延期とします。
新しい日程は2022年2月以降を予定していますが、詳細決まりましたらWebサイトおよび本メールニュースへ掲載、祝典対象者にも個別にもご案内します。

Due to the extended COVID-19 outbreak, the Gold, Ruby, Silver and Bronze Anniversary Ceremonies for last year (the 2020 Academic Year) and this year (the 2021 Academic Year) that we had planned to respectively hold this upcoming September and November, have been once again postponed.
The new dates will be scheduled in or after February 2022. When further details have been determined, they will be posted on the website and in this e-mail newsletter. Anniversary Ceremony honorees will also be separately informed.

【2】「ソフィアンズナウ」でソフィア会の歴史を振り返る
Looking Back on SUAA History with SOPHIANS NOW

ソフィア会の会報「ソフィアンズナウ」は現在、第189号まで発行していますが、現在のような体裁になるまでには、長い道のりがありました。
1970年代には、一番小さな定型封筒に折りたたんで入れる2色刷りの簡易なもの。1980年代後半のいわゆる"バブル経済"の時代には、オールカラーで全48ページ以上、卒業生が所属する企業広告も多く掲載する豪華なナウが発行されていました。会報ソフィアンズナウの歴史を辿ると、それぞれの時代を反映しながら発行されてきたことがわかります。
いま、ソフィア会のWebサイトではこのうち2003年発行の153号からデジタルブックの形でご覧いただけます。どこかに、みなさんも写っているかもしれません。

To date, 189 issues of the Sophia University Alumni Association (SUAA) publication SOPHIANS NOW have been published, and the road it bringing it to its current format has been long.
In the 1970's, it was a simple two-color brochure folded to fit into the smallest standard-sized envelope. In the late 1980's, at the height of the so-called bubble economy, the trendy, luxurious, full-color publication contained more than 48 pages and many advertisements from companies where Sophians worked. As we trace the history of SOPHIANS NOW, we understand that the publication reflects each era.
Digital versions, beginning with issue No. 153 published in 2003, are currently available for viewing on the Sophia website. Many of you may be able to find images of yourselves in those issues somewhere.

【3】学生の課外活動へ支援金を贈呈
Extracurricular Student Activity Funds Awarded

ソフィア会は7月22日（木）17時30分から2号館1701会議室において、大学関係者やソフィア会役員が出席して2021年度課外活動支援金贈呈式を行いました。
この学生課外活動支援事業はソフィア会の大きな目的である「母校への貢献」の中核をなすもので、今回は文化系17団体、体育会41団体の58団体へ合計865万円の支援金を贈呈しました。新型コロナウイルス感染症拡大防止の措置として、受賞団体の参加人数を限定し、文化系17団体17名と体育会代表2名の合計19名が出席しました。
贈呈式では、鳥居会長、福武学生センター長から挨拶をいただきました。鳥居会長は、ご自身の学生時代の体験から「課外活動は人生に大きな影響を与える貴重な時間であり、学業と共に真剣に取り組んでほしい」と、課外活動の重要性を学生に語りました。

On Thursday, July 22th, from 17:30 in Conference Room 1701 in Building 2 on the Yotsuya Campus, Sophia University officials and SUAA Board members were among those attending the SUAA ceremony to present 2021 Academic Year Extracurricular Student Activity Funds.
This extracurricular student activity funding is SUAA's core objective for making contributions to our alma mater, and a total of 8.65 million yen was awarded to 58 groups this year: 17 cultural and 41 athletic groups. As a measure to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the number of recipients was limited to 19: one member from each of the 17 cultural groups and 2 representatives from the Association of Athletic Clubs.
SUAA President Masao Torii and Director of the Center for Student Affairs Shintaro Fukutake gave addresses at the event. Based upon his personal experience as a student President Torii spoke to the students about the importance of extracurricular activities, saying "Time spent on extracurricular activities is valuable and can have a great impact on your lives, and I hope that along with your academic pursuits, you will take them seriously."
