【1】日本語スピーチコンテスト「第２回ザビエル杯」は12月5日です
The 2nd Xavier Cup Japanese Language Speech Contest Held December 5th

ソフィア会は上智大学の後援を受け、12月5日13:00から15:00までリモート形式無観客で日本語スピーチコンテスト「第2回ザビエル杯」を行います。
ザビエル杯は、ソフィア会の国際委員会が中心となって昨年初めての試みとして実施した学生支援企画。上智大学の留学生に限らず、日本の大学に留学している学生が参加できる日本語スピーチコンテストとして大きな関心を呼びました。
今年はコロナ禍でコンテスト開催の形式は変わりますが、このような事態でも日本に留まり勉学を続ける留学生の皆さんに、日本語学習の成果を発表する場となることを願って準備しました。国際委員会は、昨年に増して国際的文化交流を実現できる場となることを期待しています。

With Sophia University support, Sophia University Alumni Association (SUAA) will hold the 2nd Xavier Cup Japanese Language Speech Contest in a remote format with no live audience, from 13:00 to 15:00 on Saturday, December 5th.
The Xavier Cup, a student support project, was first held last year under the leadership of the SUAA International Committee. It attracted a great deal of attention as a Japanese language speech contest open to all students, not only to the international students at Sophia University, but also to those studying abroad at Japanese universities.
Although the format of this year's contest will change because of the COVID-19 outbreak, preparations for this year's contest have been made with the hope that it will become an opportunity to present the results of Japanese language study to all international students remaining in Japan and continuing their studies despite the COVID-19 situation. The International Committee hopes that this year's event will provide a platform for international cultural exchange that will surpass even last year's event.

【2】オンライン・トークショー 「世界を駆けるソフィアンたち　シンガポーリアンの心を一つにする和太鼓奏者」
Online Talk Show "A Japanese Taiko Drummer Unites Singaporean Hearts - Sophians Around the Globe"

ソフィア会が上智大学と共催で、これまでは主に四谷キャンパスの会議場で行ってきたソフィア会の講演会。今年はコロナ禍でしばらくお休みをいただいていましたが、四谷キャンパスにお越しいただかなくても自宅などで視聴いただけるオンライン・トークショーとして再開することになりました。
「世界を駆けるソフィアンたち」シリーズとして、シンガポール在住の和太鼓奏者、酒井奈美子さんにご登場いただきます。
酒井奈美子さんは、海外公演にも出かけるその道の第一人者。また、指導者としても、みんなで呼吸を合わせて音を一つにする文化体験を届けています。気が晴れない今日この頃、和太鼓の響きに元気をもらいたいと思います。
オンライン・トークショーは11月17日（火）18：30～20：00まで、Zoomによるウエビナ―方式で行います。これまで四谷に足を運ぶのはどうもといった遠方の方、また海外在住の方にも、お気軽にご参加いただけます。

The "Sophians Around the Globe" SUAA lecture series, co-hosted by Sophia University, has previously generally been held in Yotsuya Campus meeting rooms. Although we took a short break this year because of COVID-19, this lecture will return again as an Online Talk Show connecting Sophians at home without having to make your way out to the Yotsuya Campus.
The "Sophians Around the Globe" SUAA lecture series presents Namiko Sakai, a Singapore-based taiko drummer.
Namiko Sakai, a leading authority on the art of Japanese drumming, has performed overseas. As an instructor, she also delivers cultural experiences during which everyone drums with the beat and makes the sounds in unison. We hope that the vibrancy of taiko drumming will be invigorating when your spirits are low these days.
The Online Talk Show will be held from 18:30 through 20:00 on Tuesday, November 17th on Zoom. Those living afar or overseas who have previously not been able to easily drop in at the Yotsuya Campus are most welcome to join us.
Those registering their email addresses at the link below will receive an email invitation. There is no cost to attend. In addition to SUAA members, the event is open to Sophia University students, Sophia University Parents' Association members, faculty, staff, and their family and friends.
