The Washington D.C. Sophia Chapter receives a long-awaited Flag from the President and Vice President.

The Sophia University Alumni Association Washington DC Chapter held a social gathering at a DC restaurant on May 29th where President Yoshiaki Terumichi and Vice President Miki Sugimura presented the group with a custom-designed flag with the name of the Washington DC Chapter.
The presentation of the flag was inspired by a previous joint Sophia University/International Christian University (ICU) Alumni Association DC Branch gathering in 2016. While the ICU Alumni Association had its own university flag, the DC Sophia Chapter did not have its own. As a result, some DC Sophia Chapter members made a request that VP Sugimura, who attended the social gathering, assist with persuading the university to take up the cause. Following this, the Sophia University Alumni Association in Tokyo decided to make a flag and proceeded with its planning until completion, for the DC Chapter. The presentation ceremony was conducted on May 29th while President Terumichi and V.P. Sugimura were in DC attending a conference.
During the ceremony, President Terumichi said "We present the flag with high hope for the future activities of the Washington DC Chapter!" with the flag to Chapter members who cheered and took commemorative photos with the flag.
The school emblem and the name of the locality are dyed into the flag. I am looking forward to the Sophia Alumni Association's continued efforts to further connect Sophians worldwide with our flag which is embedded with pride.
