ワシントンDCソフィア会開催報告

4月26日、ワシントンDCソフィア会は、ホワイトハウス近くのアメリカン・レストラン「リンカーン」でハッピーアワーを開催しました。初夏を思わせる暖かな日だったこともあり、一同パティオに出ての会となりました。
ワシントンDCは入れ替わりの激しい街と言われますが、ソフィア会も例外ではありません。新しいメンバーを迎えるときはいつも心躍る気持ちになる一方、メンバーを送り出すときはbitter sweetな気持ちになります。実は今回、私が送別していただく側になりました。
ワシントンには合計4年滞在しました。ちょうどソフィア会の活動が活発になってきた頃に赴任したこともあり、ソフィアンの繋がりは、初めての本格的な海外生活を送る上での大きな力となり、励ましとなりました。あらゆる方面で活躍されている卒業生の皆さんと、同窓というだけで打ち解けられて、さまざまな世界に触れられることは、海外のソフィア会の醍醐味だと実感した次第です。
この繋がりを維持して下さっている幹事の皆さんに心から感謝申し上げるとともに、今後のワシントンDCソフィア会の更なる発展をお祈り致します。そして、再びDCの地でお目にかかれることを楽しみにしております。有難うございました。

On April 26, Sophia Alumni Association in Washington DC held a happy hour in an American restaurant, "Lincoln," near the White House. We enjoyed the patio gathering outside of the restaurant as it was a warm day reminiscent of early summer.
Washington DC is said to be a city where people come and go very quickly, which is also true with our Sophians' group here in DC. It has always been a cheerful event to welcome new members, while a bitter-sweet moment to say good-bye to those who are leaving. Yes, this time I was one of those who are leaving DC.
I spent four years in DC. When I came here, Sophia Alumni Association in DC was becoming more active. Our Sophians' network encouraged and empowered me to cope with my first full-fledged life abroad. Moreover, the Sophians in DC Chapter have provided members with incredible opportunities to meet other Sophians who play active roles in every aspect of society, just because we share the same alma mater.
I would like to express my gratitude for all the efforts of the organizing members to keep this platform active. I wholeheartedly hope the Sophians' network will be even more prosperous over time. I am greatly looking forward to coming back again. Thank you very much for everything!
