ワシントンDCソフィア会：Sophia Georgetown Student Connecting(SGC)との食事会を開催

ワシントンDCソフィア会は9月14日、当地を訪問していた上智大学課外活動団体 Sophia Georgetown Student Connecting（SGC）の現役学生5名を迎えて、DCダウンタウンのアメリカンレストランで食事会を開きました。SGCは、上智大学とジョージタウン大学との交流をより長期的かつ定期的に行うという目的のもと、昨年度設立された学生主体の団体で、ワシントンDCソフィア会とは昨年に引き続き2回目の交流となりました。
今回は、日米研究インスティテュート（USJI）のUSJI Weekセミナー開催のためにDC滞在中の前嶋和弘教授、安野正士准教授、ジョージタウン大学で交換／正規留学中の学生・大学院生、共同通信ワシントン支局でグローバルインターンシッププログラム参加中の学生も集まり、計18名でのにぎやかな会となりました。
現役学生にとっては、卒業生がDCでどのように活動しているか直接話を聞く貴重な機会となったようです。ワシントンDCソフィア会としても、今後も学生の活動を応援する予定です。

The Sophia University Alumni Association, Washington, D.C. Chapter (DC Sophia-kai) conducted a dinner event with five students from a student group called S.G.C. (Sophia Georgetown Student Connection) at an American restaurant in Downtown DC on September 14. The S.G.C. was founded last year aiming to establish a firm, long-term relation between Georgetown University and Sophia University. This is the second time the DC Sophia-kai had an opportunity to meet students from S.G.C.
This time, we had special guests: Professor Kazuhiro Maeshima and Associate Professor Tadashi Anno, who were holding a seminar in DC during USJI Week which was hosted by the U.S.-Japan Research Institute (USJI). Among the 18 participants were exchange and graduate students studying at Georgetown University, and student interns at Kyodo News Washington Bureau.
The get-together served as a great opportunity for students to interact with Sophians working in various fields in DC. DC Sophia-kai will continue to support these students activities in the future.
