ワシントンDCソフィア会開催報告

4月28日、ワシントンDCソフィア会では前アメリカ合衆国駐箚特命全権大使で上智大学特別招聘教授・国際戦略顧問の藤崎一郎先生をお迎えし懇談会を開催しました。会場は中阪清志さん(1989年外国語学部英語学科卒業)のご厚意で提供頂いた1878年創立の会員制社交クラブ、Cosmos Club。
お話のテーマは藤崎先生と上智大学とのご縁や、上智大学で行われている講義、アメリカ大統領選挙、社会人ソフィアンに期待すること等多岐に渡りました。全員が藤崎先生のお話の一つ一つに熱心に耳を傾けつつ、活発に意見交換が行われ、時間があっという間に過ぎていきました。この場を借りましてDCご滞在中のお忙しい予定の中でソフィア会へお越し頂いた藤崎先生に御礼申し上げます。
今回、アメリカから上智大学に留学経験のあるソフィアンやマンスフィールド財団の研究員として藤崎先生の駐米大使在任時に面識のある方も出席頂いたことから英語での開催となり、当ソフィア会はより開かれた会として発展しつつあります。
藤崎先生の意を受けて、今後も会員同士のネットワーキングは勿論のこと、今回のようにワシントンDCソフィア会ならではの企画も運営していく方針です。

On April 28th, Sophia Alumni Association Washington DC Chapter welcomed Mr. Ichiro Fujisaki, a former Japanese Ambassador to the United States and distinguished professor at Sophia University, to our afternoon tea session at theCosmos Club; a private social club founded in 1878.
The venue was provided by a long-time resident and company CEO Kiyoshi Nakasaka (1989 English Language and Studies).
The topics ranged from personal history with Sophia, his lectures at Sophia, the U.S. presidential election, to what he expects from Sophians in Washington DC. Everyone enjoyed the gathering and we would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Mr. Fujisaki's attendance in consideration of his busy schedule.
This meeting was conducted in English to accommodate Sophians who were prior exchange students and a former Mansfield fellow who met with Amb. Fujisaki, to more effectively open our group to the local community.
Our aim is to strengthen the network by which Sophians can expand socially within the international community consistent with Mr. Fujisaki's wishes.
