Washington DC Sophians' Social with SGC
On September 4, 2019, Washington D.C. Sophia Georgetown Student Connecting (SGC) had dinner with the Sophia Alumni Association (Sophia-kai) of Washington DC at Vapiano in central District of Columbia. Seven SGC members who are current students at Sophia University were able to meet several alumni, including one who studies at Georgetown University as a graduate student.
SGC was established in 2013 in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Sophia University. Its purpose is to create a self-sustaining relationship with Georgetown University, and thus the group regularly visits Washington D.C. It was also meant to build bridges with D.C. area Sophia University alumni. We members of SGC strive not only to forge a horizontal relationship with Georgetown University, but also to strengthen the vertical relationship with graduates of our alma mater. Every year we visit alumni who work in various organizations, including mass media, governmental intuitions, and World Bank.
This was a wonderful opportunity for SGC to broaden perspectives by talking with the Sophia graduates about a variety of topics ranging from career to work in Washington D.C.
