On a very beautiful evening, just before the Halloween Bank Holiday weekend, we Sophians in Ireland welcomed Professor Terumichi, President of Sophia University and Ms Rieko Kasai, for a heart warming dinner with them.
That is indeed a 'never heard of' kind of opportunity and we were so excited. As Ms Kasai told us in her mail afterward, we could enjoy together a wonderful 'enchanted and magical' moment together.
From our Ireland Chapter group, Mrs Naomi Beere, Mrs Michiko Ishimoto and myself could share the evening. We were delighted to hear about the University's current attempt to in receiving and working with Ukrainian students and also about Professor Terumichi's research projects, in collaboration with JR engineers regarding Shinkansen trains' derailment mechanism. He told us about their research project, which took the modeling examples into the actual earthquake cases, finishing up as actual 'anti-derailment devices' on Tokaidô Shinkansen tracks.
The evening seemed too short with such a lovely chat at 'The Winding Stair', an Irish restaurant by the side of the famous Ha'penny Bridge on the river Liffy in Dublin.
We thank them for spending with us the last evening of their visit to Ireland and hope to see them again in Yotsuya, or why not for a much more relaxing trip to Ireland again!
