Sophia's 100th Anniversary is in 2013
and your help is needed to keep Sophia moving strongly into its second century
Since its founding, Sophia has educated over 98,000 alumni. For their subsequent notable success in Japan and around the world, society has judged Sophia's contribution very favorably.
Sophia recently established a project for enabling the university to stay at the forefront in education as it moves into its second century. The university seeks to complete donation activity for the project by the 100th anniversary.
The project has three parts:
1) redevelopment of the Yotsuya campus;
2) improvement of the undergraduate and graduate educational systems; and
3) establishment of scholarship funds.
The full project cost is projected to be 30 billion yen, with 5 billion yen sought in donation support.
"We who received Sophia's excellent education should help in passing on that tradition to coming generations of students," said Yoshito Honda, chairperson of Sophia-kai (Sophia Alumni Association).
Recognition of donors will be given in several ways. For donations of 100,000 yen or more by individuals or 500,000 yen by corporations, donor names will be included in a memorial tablet built into Building 2. Donors will also be shown in a book of donors, and receive a memorial gift. Special individual recognition will be made for donors giving 10 million yen or more.
Specific methods for making donations, including tax aspects, can be obtained from the Sophia University, Fund-Raising Office; Further details on the project are at the link at the left of this page.
Your support of this project will help Sophia sustain its high educational standards in its second century. Thank you for your contribution.
